Free Printable Certificate Maker

These are working documents, not template files to download and fight with in Word: the certificate you see on each page is the certificate that prints. Every line — the heading, the recipient's name, the wording, the date, the signatures — is editable in place, and a real landscape print rule makes it fill the page.

Choose from four CSS-drawn borders (classic double line, corner accents, an ornate frame, or a simple line) and six accent colors led by traditional gold. Print in landscape for a framed look or portrait to fit a binder.

Pick the template that fits the occasion — a certificate of achievement or completion, an award, appreciation, employee or student of the month, a birthday or funny award, or a gift certificate. Each opens as a finished certificate you edit directly on the page:

1. Type over the recipient's name. It sits in a large script serif, so a single first-and-last name looks best.
2. Reword the body line. Name the specific reason — the course finished, the goal reached, the contribution made — rather than a generic "great job." A concrete line still means something years later.
3. Fill in the date and signature lines at the bottom. Both are editable; leave one blank if you only need a single signature. The heading and the "presented to" line above the name are editable too.
4. Set the look. Choose a border style and an accent color from the controls — gold, navy, burgundy, emerald, royal purple, or charcoal. The accent color drives the border, heading, divider rule, and seal together.
5. Print or save. Leave the paper on landscape (the default) for a framed look, or switch to portrait to fit a binder, then use the Print / Save as PDF button.

Gift certificates add three extra fields — the amount, what it's redeemable for, and an expiry date — so you can issue one for a shop, a salon, or a personal favor.

Printing on nicer paper: for a certificate that feels like the real thing, load heavier stock (32 lb / 120 gsm or light card) or a subtle parchment paper. In the print dialog, turn on "Background graphics" so the border and accent color come through, and set margins to Default or None so the frame isn't clipped.

Common questions

Can I change the border and color? Yes. The two menus above the certificate switch between four border styles (classic double line, corner accents, an ornate frame, and a simple line) and six accent colors, and the color you pick recolors the whole certificate at once.

How do I save it as a PDF? Click Print / Save as PDF, then in your browser's print dialog set the destination or printer to "Save as PDF" and save the file.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up? It's free, with no account, no sign-up, and no watermark on the printout.

Will my details be uploaded or stored? No. Everything you type is edited in your browser and never leaves it — nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.

Can I make a set for a whole class or team? Yes. Keep the border and color the same, then change the name and reason for each person before printing.
